OVERVIEW: In this lesson, you will learn an introduction to weaving. Weaving is the process of using string, fabric or paper in an over and under pattern. This woven structure is typically used to make functional objects that we use everyday like clothing, blankets, rugs and baskets. Since the beginning of time, people have used weaving to create many items that they use everyday! In this project, we will be creating a basic weaving using paper. You will learn to make a loom and weave strips of paper “over” and “under.” This can take some practice, so don’t worry if it takes you a little bit of time to get the hang of it!
VOCABULARY: Loom: A frame used for weaving paper, yarn or fabric through. Vertical Line: A line that goes straight up and down. Horizontal Line: A line that goes straight side to side.
