Rhythm Drawing Create a dynamic composition by repeating the shape of a common object you have at home using the principle of rhythm.
Supplies Needed:
White Paper
Pencil
A Simple Object:light bulb, tennis ball, toothbrush, fork, hairbrush, crayon, etc.
Crayons, Markers, or Colored Pencils, optional
Overview: This drawing involves making some decisions in advance. First, select one object to draw, then decide how to arrange the object within the space of the paper. Some possible compositional choices include: placing the object horizontally from one side of the paper to the other, overlapping the object in a circular pattern, or starting with a small drawing of the object and increasing the size until the paper is filled. As you draw, think about how overlaps create new, interesting shapes. See the example below. Optional: Add color using crayons or markers, coloring each shape a different color. *Think about using different color families: warm vs cool.
